Prom Settings
Settings → Prom. Appears once the Prom module is switched on under Modules.
These are the judgement calls, made once by you rather than repeatedly by whoever is at the till. For what the module does, see Prom Module.
Which dresses this applies to
Tick the product types that count as prom stock. Only these are registered against a school — a veil or an alterations charge should never make a school look taken.
Each option shows how many products you have of that type, and the page warns you when your selection covers nothing.
Type, not category
This reads the Product Type field on each product (Gown, Prom, Formal, and so on), not the categories you create yourself. A category named "Prom" doesn't count here. If your prom gowns are typed as Gown, either retype them or tick Gown.
What counts as the same dress

Size is never part of it. Two girls of different sizes wanting the same gown is the ordinary case.
When a dress is already spoken for
The most consequential setting here.

Too soft and staff click through it on a busy Saturday, and the promise quietly stops being true — which you discover when two girls arrive in the same dress. Too hard and a real sale is refused because the girl is going to a different school's prom.
Warn is the default because the person at the till usually knows something the database doesn't.
Who can override
Shown when enforcement is set to Block. Owner and manager by default.
Ask why before selling it anyway
On by default. The reason is the entire value of allowing an override — it's what you read in the registry later when working out whether the promise is still being kept. Every override is recorded either way.
When a girl has no school on her record

Without a school, nothing is registered and the promise silently does not cover that sale. That's the failure nobody notices, which is why the default is to ask.
Holds
Off by default. A hold is a promise with nothing in the till behind it, and plenty of boutiques would rather not make one.
Hold lasts (days) — every hold gets an end date. One without would block a dress for a whole season because somebody forgot.
The public checker
Let girls check for themselves — publishes the checker page. Your link is shown here, ready to copy onto your own website.
Suggest what is still free when a dress is taken — turns a disappointment into a second appointment.
The page stays hidden until at least one product matches the kinds you've chosen.
Current season
The label everything is scoped to, e.g. 2027. Roll it over when you start selling for the next prom; last season's registrations stop blocking immediately, without anyone clearing anything out.
Permissions
This page requires the General settings permission. Enforcement is the setting that decides whether your boutique's promise is kept, so a consultant who finds a clash inconvenient can't switch it off for the whole shop.
